Instructional Development Award

Flavio Bessi receives the Instructional Development Award of the University of Freiburg, which is endowed with 70,000 €.

Every year, the University of Freiburg confers an IDA (Instructional Development Award) for particularly innovative teaching concepts.

The Institute for Sport and Sports Science applied for the project "Double promotion: learning by teaching on and with apparatus"* and was awarded for that.

The aim of the project is to test gamification in sports didactics using one of the core sports, Artistic Gymnastics, as an example and to create adequate digital media for this purpose. Students of the two study courses Poly-BA and Edu-Master will create gamified learning content that can be used as OER (Open Educational Ressources) materials. By dealing with this approach of digital learning content, students will acquire additional skills in the areas of digitisation and motivation enhancing.

The complete project application (in German) can be downloaded here.

*Unfortunately, the original pun does not work with English, where the word "Doppelförderung" (double promotion) is changed to "DoblefOERderung" thus containing the acronym OER representing the Open educational Ressources.
